Guys, are you ready to rock in our last project? Are you ready to be a TV presenter, newscaster, and/or journalist? Do you want to be a 'star' invited to a talk show such as Kick Andy, Pas Mantab, or Just Alvin? Say 'YESSS' :)In order to go there, let's have our first step to make a talk show in our classroom. Moreover, some of you who like to write can make newspaper/tabloid/magazine. It's interesting, isn't it? Let me tell you what news item is.
A. Purpose/Social Function
To inform readers, listeners, or viewers about the latest events that are newsworthy.
B. Generic Structure/Text Organization
- Newsworthy events (tells the event briefly)
- Background events (tells what happened)
- Sources (comments by witnesses, authorities and/or experts involved in the events)

Model and actress Sandra Dewi cannot live
without her gadgets, saying that technology is very important to her.
The 29-year-old celebrity said she owned various types of gadgets such as BlackBerry and iPhone smartphones and computer tablets.
“I have many gadgets, around 10. All of them are important and I always carry all of them,” Sandra said as quoted by Tribunnews.com
Sandra, who stars on TV soap opera Cahaya Cinta (the Light of Love), carries around with her a special bag to accommodate all her gadgets.
“The technologies in these gadgets are important to me because I rarely communicate with outsiders. That’s why I use gadgets,” Sandra said.

D. Tips how to do a talk show
- Watch some interesting talk shows in TV.
- Learn the expressions used by TV presenter to open the show, tell the topic to the audience/viewers, introduce the guest to the audience/viewers, greet the guest, do an interesting interview with the guest, show a video related to the news/topic, take a break for commercial break, do a quiz/game, and to close the talk show.
- Learn how they set the stage, the chairs, tables, decorations, etc.
- Learn what makes the talk show interesting and different from other talk shows.
- Learn how TV presenter and guests make the gestures, intonation, and mimic.
- Learn how the cameramen record the talk show.
